Because we are a visual society, it’s important to spend time on the visual design elements of your packaging. It’s commonplace for consumers to make purchases based solely on the way a label or package looks rather than by its taste.
Creating perfect packaging often requires trial and error, because the 3D reality of flat artwork doesn’t always live up to expectations. There’s nothing worse than freshly-printed packaging that reveals gaps, unsightly seams and overall wonkiness when it’s assembled. After all, creating effective package designs requires more than attractive brand artwork.
Thanks to our superior printing equipment, we have the ability to quickly, accurately and cost-effectively produce as many packages as you need to meet your goals. Not only does that give you the freedom to print packaging “just in time,” but it also allows you to test different packaging in different markets or for presentations or events such as trade shows.
Why do we recommend pre-press prototyping?
Design - On paper or a computer screen, a design’s problems aren’t always noticeable. By creating a prototype, you can actually hold a version of your proposed product and determine what aspects do its job and which ones need refining. This is your chance to gather more accurate requirements and obtain market feedback.
Stock - A paper mock-up is never as good as a prototype on the correct stock. Migrating existing packaging to a different stock can create problems that didn’t exist before.
Adjustments - Adjust colours, textures and shapes. Now that you can see your product, what would you change to make it more marketable?
Functionality - A prototypeallows you to test your packaging for functionality, i.e. Would adding tear notches or a resealable zipper make your package function better for your consumer?
Flaws - By testing the prototype, you can find any issues, such as flaps covering important information or seams in the wrong place, which can be easily adjusted before you roll out full production.
Savings - This is your chance to decide if any design adjustments can make the production process more economical.
See your old and new branding side by side with a mocked-up prototype
To eliminate costly mistakes before they occur, Rocket includes a mocked-up prototype in our pack print process. As far as we know, we’re the only NZ packaging printer to make printing of an accurate prototype standard procedure.
